Common questions

Which devices does Across work on?

Across is for Apple devices only. It is available on the App Store and there is no Android version. It runs on iPhone with iOS 18 or later, including iPhone Duo. The writing review (Proofread, Check tone, Make concise and Adjust tone) needs Apple Intelligence, which requires iOS 26 or later on a supported iPhone. Everything else works without it.

Do I need a Google account?

No. On the first screen, choose Use iCloud and Files without Google, then add folders from iCloud Drive, On My iPhone or another app in Files. A Google account is needed only for Google Drive folders and for Save to Google Drive. You can sign in later from the Folders tab or Settings.

A Google Drive folder does not appear.

On the Folders tab, Choose Drive folders lists My Drive and your shared drives. If the list is empty or a folder is missing, open Settings and check that you are signed in with the right Google account. If you see Grant Drive access, tap it: Drive permission was declined at sign-in, and Across cannot list folders without it.

How do I add a folder from iCloud Drive, OneDrive or Dropbox?

On the Folders tab, choose Add a folder from Files and pick the folder. Across rescans it each time you open the app. Some apps do not share whole folders with Files, and Google Drive's Files integration is one of them. Across tells you when that happens and offers to pick single files instead. For Google Drive, use Choose Drive folders, which stays in sync.

If a Files folder is moved or renamed, the Folders tab asks you to pick it again. The copies already on your phone are kept until the next scan.

How do I put a file from the Files app into Google Drive?

Open the file and tap Save to Google Drive at the top of the viewer. Across copies it into a folder called Across at the top of My Drive, which it creates the first time. After that, Email can send the file as a Drive link instead of an attachment. Files that came from Google Drive do not show the button, because they are already there.

If Across says it does not have permission, open Settings, tap Grant Drive access and allow it. Across can write only to its own Across folder. It cannot change or delete anything else in your Drive.

How do I add a single file or a photo?

On the Folders tab, under Add single files, choose Pick files for documents in Files, including Downloads, or Pick from Photos for photos and videos. Picked files are copied into Across and listed under Added files. To remove one, swipe left on it, or touch and hold it and choose Remove from this phone. The original in Files or Photos is not touched.

How do Favorites, New and collections work?

Swipe right on a file, or touch and hold it, to add it to Favorites. The New tab lists files added or updated in the last 14 days. A collection is your own list, such as one per client: make one from the Collections row in the Library, then touch and hold any file and choose Add to collection. A collection links to the file, so it is stored once on your phone whatever collections it is in.

A large file did not download.

Files over 500 MB wait for your approval so they do not fill the phone by surprise. Across asks before downloading them, and remembers your answer.

Why is there no Up next card?

Up next shows your next meeting with a file whose name matches it, such as the meeting title, the company or a person's name. If no file matches, there is no card. It needs calendar access, which Across asks for the first time there is something to match. You can change this in iOS Settings, then Apps, then Across, then Calendars.

How do I present across the table on iPhone Duo?

Open a file, fold the device part way and stand it on the table. The far half shows the document to the person across from you, with no controls. The near half shows page controls, a thumbnail and your other files. Open it flat for the document with your Library beside it.

Can I send from Outlook or Gmail?

Continue to Mail opens Apple's mail composer, which sends from the accounts set up in the Mail app. If no account is set up in Mail, Across offers the share sheet instead, so you can pass the file and message to another app. You can send several files in one email: tap Add files, and choose for each whether it is attached or sent as a Drive link. Attachments together can be up to 25 MB. Google Drive videos and files over 25 MB go as a Drive link by default. The recipient needs access to the file in Drive, and Across does not change sharing settings.

How do templates and follow-ups work?

In the email editor, choose a template in the Template row. Across fills in {first name}, {company}, {meeting}, {files} and {date} where it can, and leaves any field it cannot fill so you can see what to type. Edit the templates, or add your own, in Settings under Email templates.

When a calendar meeting ends, the Library shows a Follow up card for a few hours. It opens an email to the people invited, with the files you showed in the meeting attached and the After the meeting template filled in. Tailor to meeting rewrites the draft for that meeting on your phone.

What does the email log keep?

Every email you prepare in Across: the files, who it went to, the meeting, and the subject and message. It stays on your phone. Turn off Keep message text in the log in Settings to keep only who, when and which files. You can search the log, export it as a spreadsheet file, delete an entry or clear it. With Post emails to Calendar on, a follow-up is also recorded in your calendar. The message text is never written to the calendar.

Is my draft sent anywhere for the writing review?

No. The review runs on the phone with Apple's on-device model. Across does not send your draft to a cloud service and does not keep a copy. Changes to numbers, dates, prices, links and addresses are flagged before you apply them.

How do I delete my data?

In Settings, Sign out and remove all files deletes every synced file and folder choice and signs you out of Google. In Settings, under Email log, you can delete entries or clear the log. Deleting the app removes everything it stored, including the email log and templates. To stop Across reaching your Drive, remove it from your Google account permissions. There is no Across account to close and nothing on a server of ours to remove. The privacy policy has the details.
